Ice Ice Bernard

This ice was formed on the surface of the canal during freezing weather.

A beautifully clear example of how ice forms. Multiple layers of ice – the lower layer compact, and free of air bubble (pushed out due to weight), and the upper layer, lots of air still being compacted.
Proper, compact, heavy sheet of ice.
Air bubbles formed – left hand side compacted, right hand side with air bubbles.
