Poor old TV3.ie’s website is still off the air after some random cracker threw an IIS 4 script at it this morning.
The site was cracker by “NOBODYCODER (UnKnoWn_3Rr0R)” in what looked like a random crack. They probably got scanned for vulns. and where cracked without the cracker knowing and (certainly) without TV3 webadmins knowing.

The Irish Time reported on it this afternoon saying it was expected to be up early this afternoon, but as of 10 minutes ago it was still down. I’m sure someone is frantically looking for a backup tape :)

Maybe they should look on the waybackwhenmachine for a recent cache…..

First of all, site not “cracer by”, site defaced by: NobodyCoder

Secondly not with random crack and not with IIS 4 script…
It defaced by IIS 4 DAV exploit… :)

    Anyway do better research….

    Thanks for the comment..

Since the real reason for the intrusion was not known, I called it a crack, as oppose to a hack (as it is not to proper use of the word).

Defaced..yes thats the word I was looking for.

Random crack….IIS 4 was so old I presumed it was a scan by the defacer, and then an exploit used.

So are you saying the the defacement was targetted?

    rwb

Yes! It was targeted! And we didn’t scanned for vulns or random attack! TV3.IE was target and we checked for security holes in site! Finally we found one and we owned server completely!
