Palm Treo 650: It just gets worse

Plam seem to be out to get me!

I tried registering for the free SDIO from Palm for Treo 650 owners a few months ago, and was told that since I was not in the US that I could not get one.

Obviously us non-American Treo owners don’t have the memory requirements of our US brothers and sisters.

So I then tried to register it with an adress of someone in Canada (supplied by a willing friend), and the website didn’t like his address (is it coz I is Canadian?).

So I try again this morning, at the Palm Free SDIO card page and get the following message:

“Unlocked GSM Smartphone Owners

The Treo 650 smartphone memory issue has now been addressed with our latest firmware update, this free SD card offer is no longer available to unlocked GSM Treo 650 smartphone owners. To download and install this update, please visit Customer Support.”

So now that we have managed to scrap a few hundred KB back, we obviously don’t need anymore memory at all!

Oh, I don’t know where that steering wheel is gone……

it is understandable that Palm didn’t offer the free SDIO for eu customers as the Treo was not available in that region at that time, Lack of support and warranty are one the risks you take when importing items from another country/region.

If I understood correctly the majority of issues with regards the memory were only really encountered when users upgraded from the 600 to the 650.
