I have a Cisco Catalyst 2849G i followed your instruction and succesfully defauled my switch to factory defaults but i was wondering how can i make the configuration menu come up with i unplug and plung the switch back into power.

I know on the 2950G as soon as you reset and power it backup it start this configuration mode.

Hi Andreas,

After doing a little googling I found the following:
"Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco Catalyst 1700, 1900, 2100, 2800, and 2820"
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/474/pswdrec_2800.shtml

I don't have a 2100, so I am sorry but I cannot try this, and I can't guarantee it'll work! If it does work, this will RESET the switch to factory settings!

Let me know if you tried it and if it works!

Please stop by again.

I got a catalyst 2100 switch and need the default password (factory password), unfortunately I have no contract with cisco, so if you have any
hints for me, I will be lucky.

regards
