Things don’t seem as big when you’re grown up.
Published by bbt August 20th, 2005 in bernard, irishblogsThis weekend we’re visiting my hometown for my mum’s birthday.
At the moment Beln and I are walking around Shaws department store in the city.
It looks much smaller. I remember where the sports department used to be.
Now it has suntan lotion there.
I remember the men’s department, where we used to buy my school trousers and socks.
The same man is still there (but hopefully by now hes manager).
I remember going to the second floor with my mother, when I was young, to the accounts service where she would pay her account. (thats one thing that’s gone from shops now, the idea of “appro”).
All seems a lot smaller now. Maybe that’s because I have seen more now.
All is relative. Its just a little strange…
