I came across this useful bandwidth tool from Shane.
Looking at an Eircom DSL line of 4Mb:256Kb (down:up) the possible simultaneous VOIP calls available would be 3 (Using codec G.729).
Obviously not enough for a telephone heavy company.

I had to sit on the information I received last week from Antoin, Ireland’s Chief Fonero. I thought it was on the national scale, but finding out, later…holy moly!
Martin Varsavsky has repleased the information: Fon have received €18M from Google, Skype, Sequoia Capital, and Index Ventures.
