Finally EQO have released a Treo client. Excellent news.

EQO brings your Skype contacts to your mobile phone. You install the EQO app on your computer (currently PC and Mac support) that talks to Skype (which of course needs to be installed and running as long as you want to use EQO). EQO tells Skype how to make and receive calls using your mobile.

You then install a mobile app onto your mobile device (currently supporting Audiovox, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, RIM Blackberry, Samsung, Siemens, and Sony Ericsson devices) that is running on your phone that provides you with Skype features while you’re away from your computer.

For the Treo 650, you will need the IBM JVM for Palm, approx. 1MB in size. Install it and EQO will run.

EQO works as follows:

how eqo works

I have tried it today with my Treo 650, on O2 GPRS and it works perfectly. The only issue I can say about it is the interface on the Treo “flickers” intermittently. This I presume is due to Java.

I will reinvest in some Skype credit and use this more often now.

I particularly like the feature where by you can chat with a Skype contact, as if using Skype.

Of course, EQO will be using GPRS data to communicate with Skype and EQO’s servers, so make sure you are aware of the cost implication, unless you are lucky to have a WiFi card for your mobile device, or have an unlimited data plan.

Neither which I have (just yet;) )

If you want to keep up-to-date with EQO’s progession (and there does seem to be quite alot), keep an eye on Chris Richardson’s blog.

Chris is “EQO Customer Evangelist” for EQO.

Well done EQO. Nice app.
