I am travelling to Central America in September (no, not to “teach English”, or anything like that!), and I am flying with Iberia.

Normally I like dealing with Iberia because, well they are not RyanAir or any American airline.
For the past week I have been trying to get a hotel room booked via Iberia’s Madrid Amigo system, as my flight arrives in Madrid one day, and then leaves to Guatemala city the next day, and since it is the only connection, they are required to give me a room in a hotel in Madrid, for free.

Anyway, speaking with about 10 different people, they all tell me fucking different stories.
LAst Friday I spoke to a very helpful girl who had made the reservation, and told me to ring later this week to get the confirmation details.
I ring back today and some guarra tells me it has been cancelled because the fare was not over €1000.

Bollocks.

The big problem with Iberia is their customer inservice can be serious hit and miss. And filing complaints is like sending juggernauts into a black hole.

What do you do? You get your girlfriend who speaks Spanish to kill them (my “Senora, puedo hablar con tu jefe por favour” really wouldn’t cut it here).

Solution: I have my room confirmed. And some supervisor (who doesn’t know if he is a he or a she) has an earfull.

Fernando, will you please train *all* your staff properly.
