What about this: the previous LesBlogs were organised out of Loic's address book with his "mates", 300-400 people...not a big deal. Then he "hits paydirt" and gets 1300 (circa) people to come along to LeWeb...he manages to make a dogsdinner of it (i.e. blows it) completely. In the middle he does indeed get his buddy Mister Sarkozy to drop along and boost, well both of them. Hmm....if he does indeed have political ideas (as people keep saying he does), do you think the best way was to launch them at an International event, where less than 50% of the attendees were French? Then he “hits paydirt” and gets 1300 (circa) people to come along to LeWeb…he manages to make a dogsdinner of it (i.e. blows it) completely.

So Sarko probably said: hey, I can get Shimon along if you want. Loic thinks 'yeah -- major coup, and we get news coverage,' so he does. Then Sarko says 'actually, I reckon I could pass by too, to pump up my web cred'. Loic, who's already plumped for Sarko thinks that would be a great idea, too (at this point his judgement is completely off). Then, in a cack-handed attempt to "balance" the rhetoric he goes and asks Bayrou to come along too. And Bayrou says yes. Hell, Loic admitted as much, telling the crowd that Bayrou 'was invited at the last minute', and then introducing Sarko as the guy who 'insisted on coming today and changing all his schedule to do so'.
