[UPDATE:] Mick has made use of the new Pipes from Yahoo (PIPES PIPES!! MY PIPES ARE FULL! URGH) and made a Cory/Xeni-less Boing Boing feed.

Head here and get it

Mick has commented with a fantastic piss-take post by someone on Cory Doctorow’s wonderful fanboy-righteous-but-wanky style of talking.
Also I like the idea of killfiling Cory, Xeni Wallflower-whatever-her-name-is posts.

(SCENE: a strip mall Radio Shack with a single Radio Shack EMPLOYEE standing behind the sales counter. CORY DOCTOROW enters.)

SFX: electronic doorbell goes “Dooo-weee!?

CORY DOCTOROW: Hmmph. I certainly hope that doorbell isn’t keeping private records of who enters and exits the store.

EMPLOYEE: Um, I’m fairly sure it doesn’t. What can I help you with today? RCA cables, perhaps?

CORY DOCTOROW: No, thank you, I’m actually here to purchase a cell phone as you see I am the keynote speaker at a vitally important Web 2.0 conference this week and apparently my current cell phone does not get service in this backwater area… most probably due to the total asshats at the MPAA and RIAA.

The thing that has been annoying me for a long time is the lack of quality posts anymore.

And as Twenty says: “Not sure you can dumb down the internet any more than it already is but you expect better from some sites.” And BoingBoing would be one.

Boing Boing, once a useful site to find interesting information, and useful and thought provoking discussion on topics like DRM, data privacy, and freedom on the Internet, has spiralled into - S H I T E.

They seems to have gone the way of some A-Class bloggers.

A quick survey of today’s headlines:

* A town called Feces (Which is not pronounced as the English word.)
* A town called Fucking
* Photos of peculiar figurines by Canadian artist Shary Boyle

Boing Boing has gone from my daily read feeds, to the “look at now and again” folder.

Cory, and the other people, please stop posting rubbish.

I was thinking exactly the same thing when I read about the town called Fucking. As if there is a person alive that hasn’t heard that story yet.

Similar to the amount of ‘rotten.com’ material that’s appearing on Digg now. Not sure you can dumb down the internet any more than it already is but you expect better from some sites.

I grep any posts containg Cory Doctorow or Xeni whatsherface from my boingboing feed before they show up in my feed reader. It makes boingboing far less annoying.

    Hea Mick,

    Tharts a bloody good idea.

It used to be that it was a really interesting site with actually interesting topics….and now its just faboy-wank-posts.

I must have missed it when they were giving out the free bottles of kool-aid..OH YEAH!

Do you think if I send this link into them, they’ll post it?

Because you know that Google maps 37Signals with Flickr iPod.

    Howya Twenty,

Yeah, well, maybe BoingBoing will go the way of Rotten.com

Noooooow, if YOU were a contributer to BoingBoing, it would be a whole lot better. At least there would be a good sense of humour, and none of this wanky-righteous-self-agrandisment….or would there! :P

I just tried out Yahoo Pipes and threw this together:

    http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/ghk6I2232xGPyGjtruymrA/
    http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/ghk6I2232xGPyGjtruymrA/run?_render=rss

It’s a boing boing RSS feed with all posts by Cory or Xeni filtered out.

    Much better.
