GSM, Groupe Spécial Mobile, is 20 years old. GSM service is used by over 2 billion people across more than 212 countries and territories.
To commemorate the occasion, members of the GSM technical community and its related third-generation standardization body, 3G Partnership Project (3GPP), met for a 2-day seminar in Cyprus in March.
So, happy birthday to the technology that has given so many people jobs
