Sanfermin 2009 / Día 8 / A moment of quiet

Location: Plaza Del Castillo, Pamplona, Navarra
Description: This photo was taken on the corner, entering into La Plaza Del Castillo one afternoon. I love this time of the day during fiesta, because is seems as if there is nothing happening. Everything is calm-most of the party people still haven’t woken up yet, the Peñas and Txarangas are not out yet, local people are having lunch, and normality seems to reign.

This side of the Plaza Del Castillo is famous, located here is Café Iruña. It was established in 1888 by a group from Pamplona. “It opened to the public on the eve of the San Fermin festival and was filled to overflowing” according to the chronicles of the time, and it has been the same every year since then. It was made famous throughout the world by the writer Ernest Hemingway. Every 13th-14th of July it is the centre location for the French Basques to party. Be warned. :)
