Sanfermin 2009 / Día 8 / Café Iruña

Location: Café Iruña, Pamplona, Navarra
Description: This is the right hand side of Café Iruña. As mentioned in this last blogpost, the Café was built in 1888 on the eve of Sanfermín, and was filled to the rafters – and every Sanfermín since has been the same.

It is the centre point for the nights of the 13th, 14th of July when the French arrive in town and bring their own…style of fiesta. Be warned!

Like Clery’s clock in Dublin, it has become a meeting place for the people of Pamplona and for those foreigners looking to find the place made famous throughout the world by the writer Ernest Hemingway.

You can find some great photography of Café Iruña on Flickr here, and some great historical photography here, at Café Iruña website.

You can read a great article mentioning Iruña on the New York Times Travel section.
