Calçotada, Palma de Mallorca

The most traditional way of eating calçots is at a calçotada – an annual gastronomical celebration held between November and April.

Calçots are grilled until charred, wrapped in newspaper to steam, then consumed
by peeling off the charred skin and dipping the white portion in salvitxada or romesco sauce.

The green tops are discarded. The calçots are accompanied by red wine or cava sparkling wine.

Pieces of meat and bread slices are roasted in the charcoal after cooking the calçots.

Korean seaweed omelette with sea spaghetti

I bought some tinned “fresh” (🤔) Galician seaweed a while ago, espagueti del Mar (spaghetti of the sea). It’s scientific name seems to be Himanthalia Elongata.

I wanted to use it up so I tried a Korean seaweed omelette recipe.

The recipe calls for Nori (edible seaweed sheets used for making sushi and onigiri) but the espagueti del mar worked well.

The only difference was instead of blending the seaweed into a paste with an egg as the receipe says, I chopped the seaweed, not too finely.

I followed the remaining steps of the recipe.

Tasty. 🌊🍝🥚

Homemade banana bread muffins

I had too much 🍌 🍞 dough so I poured the leftover into some bun trays.

And voilà, made-up muffins. Iteration 1.

Time to do usability testing, evaluate and iterate.

The Eagle, Farringdon Road

If I won the lottery, and had £3 Million quid, I’d buy the Eagle, not change a thing, reserve a table for myself every night and eat a bife Ana sandwich every day.

God bless them.
