To Dad

My Dad passed away 1 month ago today, 24th February 2019 at 16:15.

In Ireland for Catholics a “Month’s mind” requiem mass is celebrated, about one month after a person’s death, in memory of the deceased.

I want this post to be my Internet Month’s mind for Dad. He’d have probably thrown his eyes up to heaven if I told him about this. 🙄

The (almost) universal practice is for the family of the deceased and close friends to attend mass and take a meal together on the occasion of the month’s mind

These “minding days” were of great antiquity, and were survivals of the Norse minne, or ceremonial drinking to the dead.

Seeing as I’m not able to be at home and I’m “not much of a good Catholic”, I’ll resurrect the Norse ceremony of minne, and celebrate Dad with a small Jameson.

Irish person’s reaction to Brexit – in video

(Wait ’til the very end…..)

IPSOS-Mori carried out a survey of all Irish people, asking the question “What is you’re reaction to the word “Brexit”?

After analysing the results, they commissioned stop-motion artist, Bernard Tyers to represent the results in a stop-motion short movie.

Here is the result.

Tyers is quoted as saying, “I feel this short represents the awful pain in the face Irish citizens, and actually everybody in the feckin’ world, get when they hear all this Brexit shite.”

Me as a unicorn

Before Christmas, while we were having lunch in a lovely Greek restaurant, my nephews and niece imagined me as a 🦄.

I particularly appreciate the beard and sparkles.

Thé du Hammam

Thé du Hammam

A fruity blend is inspired by a Turkish recipe using green teas, characteristic fragrances used to perfume a hammam (steam bath): roses, green dates, berries and orange flower water.

Sprinkled with flower petals in the pure Eastern tradition, its extraordinary fragrance comes from a subtle combination of Chinese green tea and rich, fruity aromas.
